Concerning the doability navigation in the main menus is easy at the Nissan website. It enables
the user to get back to the initial page immediately by a direct link and there are several different
links to service partners working together with Nissan, such as local traders. But coming to quite
distant pages from the homepage the navigation menu decreases and these pages often lack the
direct link to the very beginning. Another negative aspect is that there are almost the same
navigation issues on the initial page as on the page for business customers. Furthermore there is
no searching device. All in all, one does not have the impression to get a clear overview of how the
navigation is built up.
Endless frontier is not provided on this website as the possibilities of discovering things other
than Nissan cars are quite limited. One does have the possibility of building one’s favourite car by
choosing its colour and technical data and getting direct price information, but concerning other
topics like company and financial data or press information one does not feel well informed.
However, the human touch is very well achieved as there are many personalized items like “Ihr
Team”, “Ihre Vorteile”, “Ihre Sicherheit”, personal brochures and tailor-made offers and the
possibility to choose one’s local Nissan partner. Negative about this point is that there actually is a
category for business customers but none for private ones. Additionally there is no such a mean
like “my Nissan” where one could have a kind of personal account.
Website Evaluation of nissan.de and honda.de
For evaluating the two websites we have applied seven different criteria which are the following: doability standing for navigation possibilities, endless frontier for the amount of information to be found, human touch for personalized content, interactivity for user control, aesthetics, security/privacy and access possibilities.

Positive aspects about the interactivity are the two means to give feedback to Nissan. There is one when opening the contact link to write a message about five different topics. The other one is the link “Wie ist Ihre Meinung zu dieser Seite?” on the imprint page. Critical about this might be that there is a limited choice of topics to give feedback on and that very few people will ever go to the imprint page and thus will never find this link. Furthermore there is no possibility at all to get in contact with other users of the page.
From the aesthetic point of view the website seems to be a little bit boring and too straight. On every page there is only a rectangle in the middle of the screen and the space around is wasted. There is no reason for dividing this rectangle into so many smaller squares by numerous lines. The changing picture of the car in the middle of the initial page can lead to confusion when going back to the homepage and it does not look like as it was just some moments before. Moreover, the arrangement of the navigation menu is quite unstructured and designed in a very simple manner. However, the site makes a serious impression by its colours and structure.
Concerning security and privacy on the one hand one gets the impression that surfing is quite secure but on the other hand private information is misused in a certain way. On the link “Rechtliche Hinweise” a long privacy statement can be found confirming that private data is handled very trustingly and even more than prescribed by law and that withdrawal of declarations is possible. But at the same time they are consciously using cookies to identify regular visitors to present them special offers the next time they visit the page, but immediately play it down by saying that cookies can be deactivated which probably nobody does. In addition to that it is doubtable that many people will open the link to read it carefully. But altogether there is no sign of a real misuse of data; it seems to be for their own purpose only.
The access to the website is very good as it can be located very easily. At common search engines like Google, Yahoo and Altavista it appears on first position (leaving out the links to ebay).
Honda.de
Concerning the doability on the Honda website it is a bit better than the one at Nissan as there is a clear division in categories and sub-categories from which one is able to get a quick impression
