This paper discusses the problem of volunteering whether it is an intrinsic motivation or just cv building. The paper should answer the question whether volunteering is just a positive thing for the curriculum vitae or an intrinsic motivation, and which are the real motivations for doing volunteer work. Furthermore it should be analyzed the dif-ferences in gender, the fact of doing volunteer work and the motivation and the link between volunteering and may cv building. Two Scenarios are presented and dis-cussed by linking two theories. The theory of intrinsic and extrinsic needs and the theory of the new tourism by Poon. The literature review discloses that the different motivation have been developed over time. Three empirical hypotheses should be answered by using desk research and a survey. The hypothesis could not be con-firmed because there are almost no differences between the gender and the different motivations. Especially females were examined in the empirical hypothesis because of the abolition of the military service.

Zielsetzung und Themenschwerpunkte
This research paper aims to investigate the motivations behind volunteering, specifically exploring whether it is driven by intrinsic factors or simply a means of enhancing one's curriculum vitae. The paper seeks to answer the question of whether volunteering is primarily a positive addition to a CV or a genuine expression of intrinsic motivation. It will analyze the motivations behind volunteer work, particularly examining potential gender differences and the relationship between volunteering and CV building. The study will utilize two theoretical frameworks: the theory of intrinsic and extrinsic needs and the theory of new tourism by Poon. The literature review will demonstrate the evolution of different motivations over time. Three empirical hypotheses will be tested using desk research and a survey. The findings will shed light on the motivations behind volunteering and its potential impact on career development.

Zusammenfassung der Kapitel
The introduction provides a brief overview of the topic of voluntourism, highlighting the growing trend of individuals engaging in volunteer work abroad. It sets the stage for the research question by exploring the potential motivations behind this phenomenon. The background section delves deeper into the concept of voluntourism, examining its historical development and the various forms it takes. It also discusses the ethical considerations surrounding voluntourism, particularly the potential for exploitation and the need for responsible practices. The theory section introduces two key theoretical frameworks that will be used to analyze the motivations behind volunteering: the theory of intrinsic and extrinsic needs and the theory of new tourism by Poon. The theory of intrinsic and extrinsic needs suggests that individuals are motivated by different factors, either internal (intrinsic) or external (extrinsic). The theory of new tourism, on the other hand, focuses on the changing motivations and experiences of tourists in the modern era. The methodology section outlines the research methods employed in the study, including desk research and a survey. The desk research involved a comprehensive review of existing literature on voluntourism, motivations, and gender differences. The survey was designed to collect data from individuals who have engaged in volunteer work, exploring their motivations, experiences, and perceptions of the impact of volunteering on their CVs. The discussion section presents the findings of the study, analyzing the data collected through the desk research and survey. It examines the different motivations behind volunteering, exploring the role of intrinsic and extrinsic factors, gender differences, and the relationship between volunteering and CV building. The conclusion summarizes the key findings of the study, highlighting the main insights gained from the analysis of the data. It discusses the implications of the findings for understanding the motivations behind volunteering and the potential impact of volunteering on career development. It also suggests areas for further research, exploring the evolving nature of voluntourism and the need for continued ethical reflection on the practice.
