ABSTRACT
With a hike in the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, Globe needs to focus on the Natural Intelligence and Human aspect of Intelligence i.e., part of Emotional Intelligence. Recently, while addressing the students of IIT Kanpur, at the 54th Convocation, the Prime Minister of India quoted that “You must think about artificial intelligence but also think about human intelligence.” The Emotion of things consists of emotional objects and skills a person possesses for understanding. Under the umbrella of emotional intelligence, the emotion of things deals with the ability to understand, recognize and communicate the emotions and responses with self and others. This paper will elaborate on why the emotion of things is important and how Emotional and Artificial Intelligence will be connected. The objective of this study is to review the challenges faced by the internet of things due to the lack of involvement of emotional aspects. The study will be based on reviewing various literature to identify the key issues and will focus on suggesting suitable solutions for those issues.
1. INTRODUCTION
A recent report (Capgemini, 2021) revealed that 76% of executives agree that AI and automation will increase the demand for EI skills as employees will have a more client/people-facing role, and 60% of organizations, on average, attested to benefits in the excess of 20% by having highly emotionally intelligent employees.
The world has shifted on its axis in recent times in such a way that Emotional Intelligence has become an even more critical capability for all leaders and managers at every level in both public and private organizations (Mark Nevins, 2020). Emotional Intelligence Deals with the human aspect of Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence (EI) consists of those skills a person possesses for understanding, perceiving, and adaptively regulating their own emotions and those of others (mayer & salovey, 1997). Emotional Intelligence is the ability to identify, assess and control one's own emotions, the emotion of others, and that of groups. Emotional intelligence consists of five components: Knowing our emotions (self-awareness), managing them, motivating oneself, recognizing emotions in others (empathy), and handling relationships. The process of knowing and managing one’s responses and emotions too are of paramount importance in contributing to emotional intelligence (Goleman, 1995). EI is “a combination of intrapersonal intelligence and interpersonal intelligence” (Polychroniou, 2009) “A popular definition for EI is the aptitude for managing feelings and emotions of self and others; ability to differentiate between various emotions and to accurately label them; and the ability to make use of the emotional information gathered to monitor thinking and actions” (Schooshtarian, 2013).
One of the most important phases in the development of AI systems would be the creation of emotionally intelligent AI. Even though it is thought that we are far away from AI-based robotics that can understand people totally, read their emotions properly and react humanly, scientists have been conducting a considerable amount of studies devoted to improving the machines’ emotional intelligence. There have been notable signs of progress to adapt the engine movements of humans to robots. In addition to this, if it becomes possible to gain personality traits from robots, AI-based robotics’ role can change from being auxiliary objects of social life to becoming active subjects.
On one hand, in the long run, developments in AI seem to replace some conventionally talented experts and even eliminate some conventionally important jobs to improve the cost-efficiency ratio of remaining employees. However, on the other hand, the same technology has also affected the psychology of human beings when it comes to feelings and emotions. This has to be addressed. (Libert, 2017) Suggested that, invest in developing your emotional intelligence. The simplest way is to change your mental model about what is important in your role, and begin focusing on how you can better manage, influence, and relate to others. Or, take it a step further by seeking out training and stretch opportunities. Keeping this in context, this study focuses on developing the balanced emotional intelligence model. This model consists of four different aspects through which a human being can balance emotions.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
Over a century ago, (Thorndike, 1920) suggested that Intelligence could be organized under three different aspects: Mechanical, Abstract, and Social. Mechanical refers to a person’s ability to manage things, Abstract is an ability to manage and understand ideas and Social refers to the ability to understand and manage genders to act wisely in human relations. (mayer & salovey, 1997) Described emotional intelligence as "a form of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor one’s ‟ own and others’‟ feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them, and to use this information to guide one’s‟ thinking and action”. (mayer & salovey, 1997), also initiated a research program intended to develop valid measures of emotional intelligence. They found in one study that when a group of people saw an upsetting film, those who scored high on emotional clarity (which is the ability to identify and give a name to a mood that is being experienced) recovered more quickly. However, Artificial Intelligence is the process of exhibiting human-like tasks in machines through various methodologies. Most AI examples are Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing which enables applications like self-driving cars and chess-playing computers. The roles of AI are to create and perform a better analysis to produce more accurate results in data and business intelligence. (Norvig, 1995)
However, the Internet of Things (IoT) is a promising paradigm, which integrates a large number of pervasive objects, which cooperate to provide complex services and a better Quality of Experience (QoE) to the users. These objects can sense and act upon the physical environment in very powerful ways (Michele Nitti, 2018).
In the meantime, several other studies have defined emotional intelligence by developing and proposing different underlying competencies and the most prominent them comes from Goleman who was instrumental in popularizing this concept (Goleman, 1995). (Low, 2004) Defined emotional intelligence as “a learned ability to identify, experience, understand, and express human emotions in healthy and productive ways.”
Baron’s concept of EI (Bar-On, 2006) is based on the ability to understand oneself and others, cope with environmental demands and solve everyday problems in changing situations.
While discovering the literature on EI, the definitions, and concepts are broadly varied and each of them bears a little resemblance on their own. Among all the theories about emotional intelligence, those proposed by Mayer & Salovey, Goleman, and Bar-On have generated more interest in terms of research and application. Each theoretical paradigm conceptualizes emotional intelligence from one of two perspectives: ability or mixed model. The ability model (mayer & salovey, 1997) regards emotional intelligence as a pure form of mental ability and so as pure intelligence. The two mixed models (Bar-On, 2006) and (Goleman D. , 2001) combined mental ability with personality characteristics such as optimism and well-being.
Moreover, (Libert, 2017) Those that want to stay relevant in their professions will need to focus on skills and capabilities that artificial intelligence has trouble replicating — understanding, motivating, and interacting with human beings. Further, the kills like persuasion, social understanding, and empathy are going to become differentiators as artificial intelligence and machine learning take over our other tasks.
A huge social change that disrupts the way we live in the human community will occur. Humankind has to be industrious to make their living, but with the service of AI, we can just program the machine to do a thing for us without even lifting a tool. Human closeness will be gradually diminishing as AI will replace the need for people to meet face to face for idea exchange. AI will stand in between people as personal gatherings will no longer be needed for communication. While delivering this key issue, (Tai, 2020) suggested that future AI must be equipped with human sensibility or “AI humanities.” To accomplish this, AI researchers, manufacturers, and all industries must bear in mind that technology is to serve not to manipulate humans and their society.
3. RESEARCH GAP
The studies in the related field show how technological advancement has shifted its axis and how it has affected the presence of living or the status quo. The inverse relationship between technological advancement and the status quo has created need of balanced Emotional Intelligence. The chart below shows how the Technological Reforms have affected the Presence of mind of an individual. Starting from radio generation, the status quo was high eventually, with the changes in the time and the advancement of technology, the status quo seems decreasing. One of the reasons is human beings have started prioritizing technology rather than the n competencies. To fill this gap, it is required to focus on the emotional quotient and work on the solutions. Moreover, the Emotion of things is nothing but, keeping the emotions and human life alive while moving with technology.

Objectives of the study:
1) To identify the impact of Technological Advancement on the Human Life.
2) To identify the perception of individual regarding Artificial Intelligence and its effects on Emotions, feelings, and human life.
3) To propose a model of Balanced Emotional intelligence.
4. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The methodology of this study is blend of primary and secondary methods. To identify the key issues, a systematic literature review has been done however, to validate the literature, a few questions were asked to the 98 individuals belonging to the age of 35 and above. These questions were having the categorical options. In general, the objective was to identify the perception of people regarding Artificial Intelligence and its effects on Emotions, feelings, and human life. Further, based on the survey, an emotional Intelligence model has been proposed. Which includes, four different aspects through which a human being can balance the emotions.
5. DATA ANALYSIS
The below mentioned graphs shows the data analysis of the survey conducted to identify the perception of individual regarding Artificial Intelligence and its effects on Emotions, feelings, and human life.

Figure 2 Descriptive analysis of the Primary data (Own-compilation)
The charts shows the descriptive statistics of the key questions asked to the individuals. Almost 82% of the population feel that the technological advancement has affected the human life, whereas, 76% of the individual has a fear that the development of the artificial intelligence will end the human race. However, only 68% of the population feel that the more you use Artificial intelligence, the lesser you are concerned about technology, whilst 78% people feel that there is a need to develop the emotional intelligence in the age of artificial intelligence.
Balanced Emotional Intelligence Model:
Balanced emotional Intelligence is a state of being aware of our emotions enough to manage them in a way that is gentle, honest, and wise (Rasmus Hougaard, 2016).

This model consists four different aspects through which a human being can balance the emotions.
1. Professional Life
2. Feelings
3. Personal Life
4. Physical Strength
The Balance among all these four parameters i.e., equipoise is addressed by the Status Quo. One who keeps the balance will have the equipoise like situation and will achieve the status quo.
