First things first:
- In most cases, you can publish your papers and theses at GRIN without hesitation.
- Uploading is free, and you can publish anonymously or under a pseudonym.
- Even niche topics and non-German texts have their place on GRIN—and they do sell!
I’m certainly not allowed to publish my work anyway.
Actually, you can! In most cases, there’s nothing stopping you from publishing your work with GRIN. As long as you studied at a public university or college and haven’t given your institution or supervisor explicit rights to use or distribute your work exclusively, you can upload it without any concerns. However, until your work is officially graded, it falls under examination rights and can only be published afterward.
For private universities, integrated degree programs, or papers written in collaboration with companies, there may apply different rules. Please check your study or work contract—or ask your university or company directly.
You can find a clear summary of the requirements for publishing your paper here: Can I publish my term papers?
Uploading takes forever, and there are probably hidden fees.
Here, too, we can reassure you. The upload only takes about 5 minutes and is completely free. Just register on the GRIN website, upload your paper as a Word, PDF, or ODT file, and add a few details on your text, like the language and the year it was written. That’s it! We will take care of the rest and will let you know as soon as it’s published. And best of all, the entire process is free for you.
My paper isn’t good enough to publish.
You don’t need a paper that got a perfect grade or won an award to publish with GRIN. We believe that everyone should have the chance to share their knowledge, regardless of the subject, topic, or research method. We accept papers starting from three pages and up to a grade of C. This ensures a diverse range of works on our platform and gives all students a chance, even if their university has tough or very strict grading standards.
GRIN isn’t a real publisher.
GRIN is a self-publishing platform, so our process differs from traditional publishers. We can’t offer content review services and, as mentioned above, our requirements are a bit more flexible. However, that doesn’t mean we accept everything without checking! We only publish work that has already been graded by a university or a comparable institution, and we may ask for a proof of grades if necessary. Plus, our team ensures academic standards are met before any paper is published.
My paper won’t sell anyway.
Every day, around 52,000 people search GRIN for relevant papers across various subjects. GRIN is the largest platform for term papers, bachelor’s, and master’s theses, making it a go-to for people looking for academic papers to cite or study. 93% of our texts eventually make it into a cart and are purchased.
Still worried that your paper might not sell? When uploading, you can choose our guaranteed one-time payment option, where you’ll receive 10 € per paper, no matter when or if it sells.
My name will be tied to the paper online forever.
This myth is partly true. Publishing under your real name is a permanent step, and once your name is out there, it’s hard to remove. But if this makes you uncomfortable, you can choose to publish anonymously or under a pseudonym when uploading. That way, your name stays off the internet, and you won’t have to worry about any consequences.
Non-German papers won’t do well with a German publisher.
Do you have a paper written in English, Spanish, French, or another language? Upload it! Our shop already features over 30,000 English papers and thousands of others in various languages, from authors all over the world. This naturally attracts international buyers, and your non-German paper could help people far beyond the German-speaking world. English papers, in particular, are popular, both in Germany and internationally, as English is the main language of academia. You’ll also receive a bonus on your fee for every English text you publish with us. Curious? Find out more here: https://www.grin.com/en/bonus-on-your-fee/
